Thomas Shabda Noor, AKA Thomas K. Wirtel

Recently retired Head of the Jazz Division at the
University of Illinois School of Music, Urbana Campus.
I am now pursuing music at the professional level as a
Jazz Trumpet Player, Composer, Arranger, and Leader.

I am the Music Director for the Heartland Jazz
Orchestra, and perform with various other groups in
the area. Two Big Bands: In Your Ear Big Band,
conducted by Peter Rubal, and The Parkland Community
College Big Band, conducted by John Hutchins. Small
groups include: Slackers, an electric "Post Miles"
group, Weasel Dreams, a BeBop group, Mayhem, a '70s &
'80s jazz group, featuring Jeff Helgeson, Chip McNeil,
Morgan Powell, and mysrlf as the front line, Bone
Yard, a traditional standards group, and lastly, my
new group with Peter Rubal, ShabMo.
