Heartland Jazz Orchestra Award

Updated: Jun 11, 2022

We are very pleased to announce that the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation has awarded Heartland Jazz Orchestra a performance grant from the Laura Sullivan Arts and Culture Fund in support of HJO’s History of Jazz Concerts. These one-hour concerts feature performances by the 20-member Heartland Jazz Orchestra, with brief lectures by the director of the band, tracing the development of jazz, the American classical music, from its beginnings in colonial America to the present day. Concerts will be available free of charge to K-12 schools in McLean, DeWitt, Livingston, and Logan Counties, with emphasis on elementary and middle schools in order to encourage music appreciation and performance at an early age. We look forward to seeing you soon!
